Adaptive, sensory-friendly magic performances designed so every child can participate, feel included, and have the time of their life.
Book an Inclusive Show →Every child deserves to experience the wonder of a magic show — and every child can. Magic For Kids offers fully adaptive, sensory-friendly magic performances specifically designed for children with special needs, developmental differences, and disabilities across New York City, Long Island, and Westchester.
We understand that standard birthday party entertainment doesn't always work for every child. Loud music, sudden noises, flashing lights, pressure to participate, and fast-paced routines can be overwhelming or inaccessible. That's why we created an inclusive version of our show that adapts to the needs of your child and your group — not the other way around.
The magic is the same. The wonder is the same. The laughter is the same. We just adjust how we deliver it so every child in the room feels safe, comfortable, and completely included in the experience.
Every performance is customized based on what you tell us about your child and your group. Here's what we adjust.
No loud music, no sudden bangs, no strobe lights, no fog machines. We keep the environment calm and predictable while still delivering genuine wonder. If your child is sensitive to specific stimuli, tell us ahead of time and we eliminate it completely.
We slow down, pause, and give every child time to process what they're seeing. No rushing through tricks. If the group needs more time between segments, we take it. The show adapts to the room's energy, not the other way around.
Participation is always invited, never forced. Kids can watch from a distance, help with a trick from their seat, participate hands-on, or just enjoy the show quietly. Every level of engagement is celebrated equally — there's no wrong way to experience the magic.
Before every inclusive show, we have a conversation with you about your child's needs, triggers, comfort level, and any accommodations. We plan the entire performance around what will make your child feel safe and happy.
We emphasize colorful, visual magic and hands-on tactile experiences over verbal comedy. Silk scarves, color-changing objects, appearing flowers, and touchable props give kids something to see, hold, and connect with directly.
We come to wherever your child is most comfortable — your home, a familiar classroom, a therapy center, or a community space. Being in a familiar environment reduces anxiety and lets your child focus on having fun.
We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every child experiences the world in their own way, and our show is built to meet them where they are. While we do everything we can to make the performance truly inclusive and comfortable for every child in the room, we also know that you know your child best. That's why we always start with a conversation — tell us what your child loves, what they're sensitive to, and what makes them feel safe, and we'll build the show around that.
Here's how a typical inclusive show flows — but every performance is customized to your child and group.
We arrive early and set up quietly. If helpful, we introduce ourselves to your child one-on-one before the show begins so there's a familiar face when it starts. No surprises.
Soft, visual tricks to draw kids in at their own pace. Colorful silks appearing, objects changing color, simple hands-on moments. We read the room and match the energy of the group.
The heart of the show — age-appropriate tricks with flexible participation. Kids can help from their seat, come up close, or watch from wherever they're comfortable. Every child who wants a turn gets one.
The birthday child (or guest of honor) gets a special moment in the spotlight — adapted to their comfort level. It might be a big dramatic trick or a quiet one-on-one moment. We follow their lead.
Every child picks a balloon creation — or if balloons aren't comfortable for your group (some kids are sensitive to the popping risk), we can substitute with a different activity. We always have a backup plan.
We bring inclusive magic shows to wherever your child or group is most comfortable. That includes private homes, special education classrooms, therapy centers, community centers, group homes, after-school programs, disability organizations, and sensory-friendly event spaces across NYC, Long Island, and Westchester.
We also perform at mixed-ability birthday parties where some children have special needs and others don't. The adaptive techniques we use make the show better for everyone — calmer pacing, more visual engagement, and flexible participation benefit every child in the room, not just those with specific needs.
If you're a school, organization, or program that serves children with disabilities and you're looking for an inclusive entertainment option, we'd love to talk. We work with special education teachers, therapists, and program coordinators to design a show that fits your group perfectly.
"Most party entertainment is a nightmare for my son — too loud, too fast, too much pressure to participate. This was completely different. The magician was calm, patient, and adapted everything to what my son was comfortable with. He actually participated in a trick and the smile on his face made me cry. First time he's ever enjoyed a live performance."
Questions parents and organizations commonly ask about our inclusive shows.
It's the same magic — just delivered differently. We use the same tricks and routines but adjust the pacing, volume, sensory elements, and interaction style based on the needs of your child and group. The goal is always the same: every kid has the best time possible.
Absolutely — we do this regularly. The adaptive techniques we use (calmer pacing, flexible participation, visual focus) actually make the show better for all kids. Nobody feels left out and the experience is inclusive for everyone in the room.
Always. Before every inclusive performance, we have a phone call or detailed email exchange with you to understand your child's triggers, comfort level, sensory sensitivities, communication style, and any accommodations needed. We plan the entire show around this conversation.
That's completely fine. Participation is always invited, never required. Some children prefer to watch from a distance, and that's a perfectly valid way to enjoy the show. We never single out a child or put pressure on anyone. If they warm up and want to join in later, we make space for that too.
Yes — tell us what to avoid and we'll remove it completely. Our show is modular, which means we can swap out any element that might cause distress. If balloons are a concern, we skip balloon twisting entirely and replace it with an alternative activity.
